Hello Dr. Heather & AVCVA! Thank you soooo much for all the amazing care that you've given to my boy Bohdi. He is so special to me & having his vision restored has been such a blessing so that he can return to living his best life & catching his ball again, which has always been his favorite thing to do. I hope you don't mind that I shared your link in my Facebook post. I'd say that 99% of my friends have pets too so I wanted them to know that you guys are out there in case they ever needed you...I had no idea that you even existed or that vision restoration was even possible for pets! You all are real life angels to me & I am forever grateful for the wonderful work that you do....Many heartfelt THANKS from myself, John, Willow Mae & most of all our Bohdi Bodine See you on the next check up 3/1 - HUGS
My dog Maxine was referred here by her primary vet after noticing some granulation on her eyes. The vet I saw was Dr. Romaneck, she is fantastic. I cannot express how quickly she put me at ease with the worries I had about my baby. She was amazing with Max, but also really great about explaining some complex eye issues to me in a way I could easily understand it. I felt completely confident in knowing exactly what was going on with Max, the game plan we had moving forward, and she listened to me when I voiced concerns over an ulcer we discussed in one of our appointments. She made it very clear that I could reach her at any time for any issues- I have never felt more comfortable with any vet I’ve taken Max to in my life and that’s saying something considering I used to work with vets. The entire team here is awesome!! The receptionist Valerie is always extremely pleasant, the assistant I worked with a few times Emily is awesome as well. I can’t rave enough about this place!
Dr. Brookshire is amazing. Last year they saved our Johnny’s left eye. At 16+ years old, he recently had a very rapid infection that pierced his right eye making removal necessary. He has limited vision now but has made a quick recovery. We are so grateful to Dr. Brookshire and her team.
I took our German Shepherd, Bella, who is my husband's service animal, to AVCV for extreme of redness in both eyes.
From the very moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with such kindness and compassion - not the kind that you receive when the front desk employee is treating the customers like cattle and has that "Next" attitude. Both Bella AND I were treated as family and it was genuine.
Dr. Brookshire came in the room promptly and was so gentle and kind to Bella as she examined her eyes. Bella, who is sensitive to them being messed with, was very comfortable and allowed Dr. Brookshire to perform the exam rather easily.
The DX was determined and clearly explained, the RX was prescribed, and we were able to go. With the very first dosage of the drops, Bella's eyes cleared up and she is doing just fine.
Even though we live in NC and do have an animal eye specialist closer to our home, we will make that trek when Bella needs a check up as Bella is comfortable and that is a major priority for a dog who is so important to my husband's needs and my peace of mind.
Thank you and God bless you, Dr. Brookshire and your entire staff.
I could not believe how quickly they were able to get me in less than 24 hours. They explained so much to me took their time with my pet. The receptionist was awesome too. They printed out my meds in a chart form with directions. Then they followed up with me the next day early afternoon and again later that afternoon with the blood results, then forwarded the results to my local vet for follow up. They are awesome.
Dr. Brookshire and the staff are very friendly, welcoming, professional and compassionate. I appreciate that they were able to see my old dog quickly. They provided the necessary care effectively and efficiently. I am truly grateful for the wonderful care and experience we received.
When I started coming to Animal Vision Center it was last year after my dog had undergone a routine cataract surgery at a different clinic that left him blind. The clinic that performed the surgery was terrible with follow ups and the surgery caused him to have glaucoma and he was in so much pain his blood pressure was high. He developed a terrible ulcer on his left eye as well.
We were so frustrated until we found Dr. Heather and Animal Vision Center. This was all during Covid but when we had an appointment I had an ipad so I could participate in the exam, this was soooo helpful!!! Dr. Heather switched his medicines, and got his left eye to heal (we were looking at complete removal surgery) she saved his eyes, got him comfortable and pain free again, also he no longer needs high blood pressure medicine.
I am so glad I switched to this practice, and I would recommend them to anyone with a pet that needs specialty eye care. They are very professional and caring.
I came here with my grandmother & her dog & the experience here exceeded my expectations. Everyone was so kind & friendly & informative from the minute we pulled up til the time we left! The staff is seriously amazing & loved our dog as if it was their own. The communication was also amazing. Will always refer people to this place!! Great experience and amazing staff! Huge thank you to all the ladies here!
Absolutely impressed with this place. First I want to say, I was like 15 minutes late, and OMG I'm so sorry. But they still worked me in and I didn't have to wait long at all! I saw Dr. Heather and she was great, friendly, professional, and thorough with her explanations. I really wish she was my dog's general vet. Also, her staff were really friendly as well. I don't know what receptionist I talked to but she was absolutely friendly and sweet. I needed her to repeat a couple things and she was just patient and great. When you bring your pet here, they have you sit outside in your vehicle and they bring you an iPad and Dr. Heather calls you during your pet's examination. You not only get to talk to her, but you get to watch the examination. My Pug is naturally skittish around strangers in strange places and the gentleman who was holding my dog was absolutely awesome. If you are referred to multiple eye specialists that you can choose from, go here!!
My cat was injured right before Xmas. The staff here were wonderful. They took my cat in for emergency surgery and were able to save her eye without issue. The vet was also kind enough to work with my schedule for my cats follow up appointment. I appreciate all of the hard work and level of dedication to my animal. I will definitely refer anyone in need for their animal to this facility.
Can't say enough positive things about Dr. Brookshire and her team. Friendly, knowledgeable, and of course, gentle and caring with their patients. I've seen a few people already say this but I'll repeat it - wish AVC could be my regular vet!
5 stars doesn’t feel like enough stars! I can hardly express how wonderful our experience was! We were greeted and welcomed by a friendly staff, the office is clean and features attractive decor- most importantly the doctor was knowledgeable, explained multiple options for my dogs treatment and supported my choice for treatment fully, and to top it all off it was beyond affordable! Making health decisions for pets can be very stressful, that was not the case here! I am so glad my dogs cornea ulcer is all better now, but I honestly kind of miss going! I smile when I drive by, and I am so blessed Tootsie was treated here!
When I adopted Lady Mae, a chihuahua-dachshund mix from Hope for Life Animal Rescue, I knew she had mature cataracts resulting in limited vision. I made an appointment with Dr. Brookshire right away, and after a thorough ophthalmic exam she determined that Lady Mae’s retinas were functioning well and that with cataract surgery and lens implants she had a very good prognosis for regaining her sight. The scheduled surgery went very well and being a compliant pet dad, I followed her post op care as outlined. It was great fun to watch Lady Mae’s progress and her response to things she had not seen since her adoption; curiosity over a bug crawling across the floor, watching a bird fly overhead, barking at the squirrels and crows in my backyard and her vigilance looking out the window on car rides. I am very grateful to Dr. Brookshire for her expertise and surgical skill in returning Lady Mae to a visual state. She and all her staff are absolutely wonderful—two thumbs up!!
First visit, took my Yorkie in to get her eye examined and confirmed she had dry eye. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes, armed with a full diagnosis, treatment plan and all my questions answered. It was all affordable and well worth the cost to know my Yorkie is getting proper care for her eye based on an assessment by an eye specialist.
They were very gentle and sweet with my terrified Yorkie, and got the exam done quickly.
We love Dr. Brookshire! Her service is always impeccable. She helps our pets out tremendously! She is always willing to accept any emergency patient. She even provided her services FOR FREE for a rescue patient we had in our hospital! She travels locally, and provides services for people's pets who are living in senior communities. She is a wonderful human and veterinarian! Her staff is fantastic as well :)
Dr. Brookshire is wonderful. Very compassionate to pet and owner as well as extremely knowledgable about my shih tzu 's corneal ulcer. She is very patient with my iuncooperative 2 1/2 year old dog. I am so grateful that Chryssi is healing. The staff is great too. I highly recommend Animal Vision Center for any of your pets eye care needs.
Extremely courteous and prompt service, with reasonable fees. As with any veterinary specialist, I braced myself for hearing the total owed on my bill, and was relieved when I realized I wouldn't have to take out a second mortgage! Especially when the cat I was getting seen didn't even belong to me, but rather to a neighbor that was just letting his condition go til it looked like a dead fish eyeball. Animal Vision Center is getting him back on track and I won't have to rob a bank to pay them!
Great place to take pets in need of help for their eyes, clean professional atmosphere; staff is not only nice, but they are compassionate and attentive as well. So glad I took my new vets reccomendation to come here for my cats eye treatment.
Couldn't have been happier. My cat has had recurring pink eye his entire life. I noticed it starting up again one night so I called after hours, left A message asking if by some miracle they could see me the next day as I am not a client and this wasn't a referral. The office called me first thing in the morning, told me I could go to the office and get squeezed in! WHAT?!
I hopped right in the car and drove over to the clinic in Suffolk. FIRST thing I noticed- that clinic is part of a 24 hour place and BTW that staff was incredible. Very kind, kept the place moving and clean. Now... The staff at the animal vision center- SAME THING. Super friendly. 2 techs and the vet got me in quickly. She took a look at his eye, said she could get him fixed up. He got his meds, suggested some over the counter stuff to keep the pink eye at Bay and sent me out at a very reasonable price in no time FLAT.
Couldn't believe how good this visit went and I don't have to run all over the world for meds. Nor did she make me feel like I'm a bad cat mom. So I give this place 5 stars! 🌟
Dr. Heather and her staff are amazing. She is an expert and so gentle with her patients. Even with our wiggley Frenchie, Dr. Heather managed to get the medicine in her eyes and clear up her cornea ulcer.
Thanks Dr. Heather!
You will not find a more compassionate team. Dr Brookshire will go out of her way to not only help your furry family member, but comfort you along the way. Patients love her and are not afraid to walk in her office. Staff will always greet you with a smile and know your pet by name. I personally would not go anywhere else, and I recommend her for our patients!
This place is the absolute best. My nine-month old puppy has glaucoma, and they took her in by emergency appointment. Dr. Heather always gives you all of our available options. I’m thankful for her and her staff, as this will be something our puppy will have for the rest of her life. Definitely recommend her for all your animal eye needs.
The staff and Dr. Heather were wonderful in the treatment of our sweet Cloey. We brought her in for a detached retina issues due to her high blood pressure and kidney failure. They were always so attentive, helpful and affectionate. Our family is so grateful for everything they did to prolong our kitty's life. I would highly recommend Dr. Heather to any pet owner.
Greeted with smiles and someone helped calm my dog down as soon as we walked in. His new vision problems have made him anxious in new settings, and everyone was more than helpful. I would recommend them to anyone having vision problems with their pets. A very calming and welcoming office!
Nothing but praise for Dr. Brookshire and her staff. I have referred dozens of patients to her and my clients have always been extremely satisfied with the level of care and compassion they received. She has even taken care of two of my own horses when they needed treatment for eye injuries, and we are extremely grateful for her care.
Dr. Brookshire and staff are miracle workers! My beautiful four-year Doberman went blind from diabetic cataracts, and Dr. Brookshire completely restored his vision. They are so kind and caring. This is the only vet's office that my dog actually gets excited to go to!
My dog Izzy had an injury that I did not understand and needed the attention of an eye specialist. Animal Vision Center of Virginia was 2 hours away from my location. From the time I was greeted at the front desk to the examination and surgery of Izzy, I must say the entire staff was professional, friendly and above all kind. Dr. Heather listened to every detail and proceeded with confidence. "Thank you so much for restoring Izzy's sight."
We were devastated when we were told our boy had melanoma on his lower eyelid. Our vet recommended Dr. Brookshire to be the one who "repaired" him. It was a very scary time for us (the human parents!), but Dr. Brookshire and her team did an awesome job and 6 months later his eye looks completely normal and most of all healthy! Thank you so much for the care you gave him and us.
Sammy has diabetes and as a result lost vision in his right eye and 50% vision in his left eye. After the removal of cataracts in both eyes by Dr. Brookshire and team his eyes are brighter and vision is great. Thanks Dr. Brookshire!
Anyone who has a Boston Terrier knows how we felt when Rooney couldn’t see the cookies we tossed on the floor for him. He tripped on curbs, missed steps…it was painful. We were referred to Dr. Brookshire for evaluation and got a diagnosis of cataracts on both eyes. I’ll be honest, the cost was a drawback for my husband, but as usual he deferred to my opinion that this was necessary to improve Rooney’s quality of life. The surgery was fairly smooth in spite of an episode under anesthesia, which is not uncommon with an 11 year old dog, but Dr. Brookshire handled it expertly and the final result was life changing for our little dog. He now sees all the cookies, all the birds, and he is now the little guy we brought home so many years ago. Albeit with a gray face and a little more chubby. My husband and I agree that it was well worth the care and expense to have our Rooney back and happy. The care and love provided by Dr. Brookshire and her staff are genuine and we are certain, if its possible, that they love our dog as much as we do and are focused on improving the lives of all her patients and their owners. I say owners, but we dog people know I really meant parents. I would refer and recommend her and her practice to anyone without reservation.
When my domestic short hair cat, Fatboy, developed a serious eye infection, I considered taking him to his regular vet. But I decided to take him to Dr. Brookshire instead. He is so afraid of strangers that he normally runs and hides, but to my surprise our visit could not have been more pleasant! Before the exam, Dr. Brookshire won Fatboy over in a matter of seconds with her calm voice and steady hands. After completing the exam and test, Dr. Brookshire determined results while we waited and prescribed the proper medications. From start to finish – under 30 minutes!
Over the next week when I phoned the office with questions, my call was returned before the end of the day with courteous professional advice. I received the same outstanding service at Fatboy’s follow-up appointment, and am happy to report his eye has healed completely. I highly recommend Dr, Brookshire for animal eye care!
It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Dr. Brookshire. We have always felt that she and her staff have always provided us with very professional and special care, everything from eye operations, after hour and holiday visits to help and sustain our beloved “Millie Girl” from blindness. We have had 3 Cocker Spaniels with the same sort of problems and her care and commitment has by far been the very best!
Our 9 year old cocker spaniel, Mikey, suddenly went totally blind. Our vet referred us to Dr. Heather Brookshire, who examined and described him as an “interesting and puzzling case.” After performing several tests, Mikey was scheduled for surgery. But his blood work came back abnormal. Being very cautious, Dr. Brookshire referred us to an internist and later a neurologist who found Mikey had septic meningitis caused by a severe ear infection. After Mikey had ear surgery and his infection cured, Dr. Brookshire finally was able to perform eye surgery on our dog. Mikey immediately regained his vision and is more lively and happier than he has ever been! Because of Dr. Brookshire’s expertise and caution, she not only gave Mikey his sight back but truly saved his life. We have the utmost respect for Dr. Brookshire and recommend her without reservation to anyone needing a canine ophthalmologist. She, in our opinion, is a true miracle worker.
I will never be able to say enough for the miracle Dr. Brookshire performed on our Japanese Chin, Precious. Precious was rushed to our local animal hospital with her eye bleeding. The vet thought it was glaucoma and wanted to remove the eye. We immediately asked for alternatives and they referred us to Dr. Brookshire immediately.
Dr. Brookshire determined that she had a corneal perforation of the left eye, not glaucoma. Dr. Brookshire gave us a couple of options fully explaining every one. We opted to have the surgery and a few hours later, we were able to bring Precious home for recovery.
During her recovery, Dr. Brookshire personally called to check up on her. Because of Dr. Brookshire our beloved pet did not lose her eye and has regained her vision. We will NEVER be able to thank her enough.
We want to extend to you our congratulations on your new endeavor. The only problem is that it will not be in Brevard County. We were so impressed with you and your colleagues at the clinic in Viera. You were all so caring and very knowledgeable. Billy knew he was in good hands. We will have to start out a day earlier for his re-check next year. It’s a little further to drive to Virginia. We will miss you, but wish you the very best. You are a very caring, competent Veterinarian. Your new patients are very lucky. All the best. Billy sends his love.
In December 2014, I received Lisa from a rescue agency. She came with almost no history and was found on the street. She was around 12 years old and blind in one eye with cataracts on both eyes.
Wanting to increase the quality of Lisa’s life I took her in for a vision check by Dr. Brookshire. Dr. Brookshire’s empathic nature instantly relaxed Lisa. She began to wag her tail! We had found the right eye Doctor! While she offered no guarantee, she told me there was a very good chance she could restore Lisa’s vision.
The results were beyond all expectations. Both cataracts had been removed and Lisa had her vision back in both eyes. Both of us will be forever grateful to Dr. Brookshire and her professional and caring staff.
Dr. Brookshire gave Lisa back her life!
I met Dr. Heather Brookshire and her awesome team during an emergency. They saw my Taffy immediately and provided treatment and information along with a short and long term plan of care. The team’s efficiency, receptiveness and professionalism have extended way beyond this initial visit as Taffy and I continue to see the doctor regularly. I cannot say enough good things about everyone there. If Taffy and I must make this journey, I am so glad Dr. Brookshire is mapping the course.
Dr. Heather was recommended to me by my vets at Animal Medical Center. Our beagle, Scooter, had completely lost his eyesight in both eyes due to cataracts. Scooter had been diagnosed as diabetic a few months prior to losing his sight. I was so impressed with Dr. Heather and all of her staff after our first visit. They were so professional and caring. All my questions and concerns were addressed. Scooter had bilateral cataract extraction the following week. Scooter was able to see immediately after his surgery! I am so thankful for all the love and care Dr. Heather and her staff provided Scooter! They are truly angels!
Dr. Brookshire is amazing! I have a 14 month old Shih Tzu (Molly) that had her eye scratched by a cat. She needed surgery to repair the eye and I needed reassurance that my Molly would be ok. She went above and beyond with both. The same day I took Molly to be seen by Dr. Brookshire, she performed surgery that evening. Molly is 100% back to her normal self and will be forever grateful for the compassion and love Dr. Brookshire has for animals. Now if she could only teach Molly to not play with cats:) Many thanks to her!
My 10 year old Newfoundland dog developed cysts around her eye and we were referred to the Animal Vision Center. I easily made an appointment and saw Dr Berkshire at the COVE in Suffolk where they have an additional Friday clinic. Dr Berkshire and her tech were terrific. They assessed Harriet and gave me a diagnosis, treatment plan and price. They were able to use cryotherapy to remove 3 cysts. They provided anti-inflammatory medication and antibiotic ointment. The price was very reasonable and my lovely girl is doing great. I am so glad they were able to help us so quickly, easily and professionally. Thank you so much!!! I highly recommend Animal Vision Center. 🐶
We are so happy to have found the Animal Vision Center of Virginia. We traveled from New Jersey with our Lhasa Apso to be seen there. We have gotten the best care. Our blind dog can now see again. They are so compassionate and are top notch professionals. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Brookshire, Melissa, Veronica, Emily, Ashlyn, Allyson & Amari. Thank you so much for everything.
I have an older dog named Anji San who required cherry eye surgery in both eyes (separate instances) and Dr Brookshire handled my geriatric fellow with compassion and professionalism. She provided me estimates for both surgeries as well as updates pre and post surgery. And Anji San recovered beautifully. Approximately 14 mos ago I inherited two very geriatric smoosh faced cats that both have ophthalmic issues. Dr Brookeshire took time to explain what the long and short term treatments would be to keep these old kitties eyes comfortable and healthy. She has continued to keep them healthy and happy. I am grateful to Dr Brookeshire for always making me feel like my animals are as much a priority to her as they are to me
These guys are great! They are very considerate and thoughtful, but also knowledgeable. They have a very nice clinic, it's easy to get to, and most of all, they helped my senior cat get her vision back. I'm very grateful to the staff here. My only (very small) complaint is that their hours can be difficult for me since I work days--but maybe that's just me. Honestly, so glad my regular vet sent me here.
